Compound blocks.-Relates to paving blocks of the kind wherein a rubber pad is applied to a base-block of wood, concrete, or metal by means of mutually engaging projections and recesses intermediate of the ends of the block, and consists of forming the ribs c on the rubber pad b, shown inverted in the Figure, of parallel-sided sectional form having beaded edges e. When the base a is of concrete moulded on the pad b, wires f, g for reinforcing the concrete are threaded through the ribs, and additional wires for the same purpose may surround the ribs. The ribs need not extend the full width of the pad.
