Abstract
218,819. Hyde, C. F., and Knott, S. June 16, 1923. Composite blocks. -Relates to paving blocks formed of slabs of rubber 6 secured to a concrete base 7 by intervening metal plates 3 having top and bottom anchor members. According to the inventoin, the anchor members 5 for the rubber are formed by the outwardly-turned burrs which result from punching holes 4 in the metal plates, the edges 10 of the plates being bent downwardly and inwardly to anchor in the concrete. The underside of the metal plates may have additional anchor members in the form of stirrups 8. The sides of the block are provided with spacing ribs 9 to facilitate grouting.
