Abstract

307,606. Witts, F. H., and Pessell, R. C. Feb. 17, 1928. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Vent pegs.-A spile or vent peg for casks &c. containing beer, cider, wine, vinegar, &c. consists of a gimlet a, Fig. 2, secured to a tubular body b apertured at b<3> for the admission and egress of vent air which passes through channels in a plug s and through side tubes e. The body b is enclosed in a telescopic casing p, p<1> which contacts with the outside of the cask &c. by a washer b<2> which forms a tight joint. The aperture b<3> of the tube b is kept clear by a cranked rod r. A modification from which is also enclosed in a telescopic casing, is shown in Fig. 5. Two or more barrels may be connected by the side tubes e.
