Abstract

384,372. Maintaining beer in fresh condition. MARTIN, J., 28, Norwich Road, Forest Gate, London. Sept. 3, 1931, No. 24749. [Class 102 (i).] Beer withdrawn from a barrel 24 by a beerengine is replaced by beer from a second barrel 23, the barrels being connected by a tube 25 having at one end a vent-peg 27 fitted in the shive of the barrel 24, and at the other a suction appliance, placed in the barrel 23, which permits replenishment of the beer while preventing escape of the natural gases. The appliance comprises a conical member 5 carrying a non-return valve 13 and in screw-threaded engagement with a cylindrical member 6, a filter 17 being held between the two. The appliance has also a circumferential filter 19 and when this is used a removable metal disc 18 covers the filter 17. The appliance may be supported by a flanged member 28 apertured to receive the neck. Specification 260,919, [Class 21, Casks &c.], is referred to.
