Abstract
307,388. Carson, N. B. Dec. 6, 1927. Divided on 307,380. Reinforced-concrete beams.-Concrete beams of the type reinforced by a rolled or built-up joist and bars spaced therefrom, are provided with preformed stirrups shaped to fit around or to hook into the joist and also to hook over the bars to space them in predetermined position. In Fig. 1, the stirrups 4 are hooked into the web of the joist; ties 19 may be added. In Fig. 3, the stirrups 11 are V-shaped. Figs. 5 and 9 shows stirrups which embrace the joist, the stirrups 28 being shaped as shown in Fig. 10. Fig. 16 shows a stirrup embracing and hooked into the joist. For built-up joists, the stirrups may be shaped as shown at 57, 59, Fig. 22, or as symmetrical pairs 62, Fig. 25.
