[Class 20 (iv)] A reinforced - concrete beam or other structure comprises a plurality of reinforcing rods or bars b supported or retained in their appropriate positions relatively to a rolled steel or other joist reinforcement a by stirruplike members c, the upper ends of which are hooked around a plurality of supporting rods d extending transversely across, and resting upon the upper part of the joist reinforcement. The members d, which are arranged in spaced relation along the joist, may be in the form of straight bars, or bars with one or both ends hooked to engage the stirrups. When both ends of a bar d are hooked, one hook may be smaller than the other. More than two reinforcing bars b may be used, and provision may be made for holding the bars in their appropriate positions on the stirrups c by the formation of loops on the latter or by wire ties. The joist reinforcement a may be of T, channel, angle, or lattice form.
