Abstract
696,866. Floors, roofs. BRUCE, R. Sept. 19, 1951 [Sept. 19, 1950], No. 22945/50. Class 20(iv) [Also in Group XXV] Floors and/or roofs of buildings are formed of reinforced or prestressed reinforced concrete planks a each having one side edge a<SP>1</SP> of "birds mouth" crosssection and the other, a<SP>2</SP>, of re-entrant " birds mouth " section, the planks spacing between and being supported by load bearing walls and/or beams b with the edges of adjacent planks interlocking, concrete, c being cast thereover. The planks are prestressed by high tensile wires a<SP>4</SP>, and are preferably edged or grooved . &c. on the upper faces so as to bond with concrete c. The projecting upper edges of U-shaped reinforcements d in the beams are preferably bent so as to be embedded in concrete c. Metal plates e shaped to conform with the interlocking sides are fitted at intervals between adjacent planks, the plank edges being checked for the purpose, downwardly projecting spikes or prongs on the plates serving to secure wooden &c. straps f to which a lining g is attached, or to secure the lining directly. Vertical holes may be left in the planks and in concrete c for electric cables &c. The planks may be recessed as as h to accommodate the limbs of reinforcement d, particularly when the supports for the planks are not wide. When the planks are supported by walls the reinforcement d are replaced by straight rods extending over the walls and lying wholly within the in situ concrete at each side thereof.
