Joist floors with block filling.-Floors are formed of longitudinal joists h, Fig 1, transverse bars i, and filler tiles a, the sides of which completely enclose the bars i and the edges are flanged to provide a space for concrete enclosing the joists h. Concrete d is applied over the top. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the tiles abut on and are carried by precast joists e which have gaps opposite the flanges a<1> of the tiles, and the reinforced concrete joists are cast in situ therein at right-angles to the joists e. Upper reinforcing bars g may be added, and the top faces of the tiles may be domed or bevelled.
