Walls; double walls; joist floors.-In walls formed of precast concrete slabs spaced apart with or without concrete filling and with pillars or piers cast in situ, the vertical edges of the slabs have either V- grooves b or are bevelled so that they key with the pillars, and the pillars are cast with spacing-projections i by means of the boards l, m and bolts o. Corner piers are formed bv boards s, t, angleirons u, an inner wooden block p, and bolts q, r. No reinforcement is used in either the slabs or pillars, and no mortar is used in the bed joints between the flat abutting edges of the slabs, but such edges may have grooves which may be grouted. The plates have roughened faces to receive a plaster, stucco, or rough-cast finish, and may be formed in moulds of the kind described in Specification 169,729, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances]. A floor or roof may be formed by iron or wooden joists v, Fig. 6, which rest in recesses in the wall slabs and are covered on the top and bottom with corrugated or perforated steel sheets y to carry concrete or plaster and floor boards z.
