Abstract

1,219,587. Building panels. BUTTERLEY BRICK CO. Ltd., H. H. WAUD and E. P. WAUD. 20 Feb., 1968 [22 Feb., 1967], No. 8329/67. Heading B5A. Building panels are formed by laying a plurality of bricks D face side down on to a resilient mat H made of foamed rubber, clamping the bricks D by means of clamps A on upper mould section B so that they are compressed into the surface of the mat H and so that their rear faces are covered, pouring mortar into the spaces between the bricks D, allowing the mortar to harden and removing the panel formed from the mat H. The mould consists of a rigid bed K of steel or plywood on top of which is a mat of foamed rubber H. Rods G extend between side walls F of the mould and are used to locate the bricks D. Reinforcing rods N and O may extend through aligned spaces between, or holes in, the bricks. After the bricks have been clamped in position the rods G are withdrawn and members E are pushed down to cover the holes in the side walls F. The mortar mix is poured in and the mould agitated. Two panels interconnected with tie members may be used to form a cavity wall.
