Abstract

Reinforced - concrete walls ; joist floors with block or slab filling; joist floors with concrete filling; reinforced concrete beams.-Concrete buildings are cast in situ by using permanent inner moulds and temporary outer moulds, both of story height. The inner moulds consist of a framework b, Fig. 11, faced on one side with corrugated metal sheets b<1> with or without a layer of concrete b<13>, and on the other side with lathing and plaster d<1>. The edges have angle-irons b<3> by which adjacent sections are connected. The outer moulds b<8> consist of flanged steel sheets bolted together and spaced from the inner moulds by concrete blocks m<1>, Fig. 22, which are hung in place by hooks m<2>; T- headed bolts p, Fig. 27, tie the inner and outer moulds together. Reinforcing-bars may be secured to grooves m<4>. The foundation consists of outer and inner permanent mould sections f<1>, f <2>, Fig. 3, similarly spaced and tied, and provided with brackets q to support the moulds b<8>. Floor beams e, f, preferably of precast concrete, are notched at the, ends and are supported in notches in the edges of the inner moulds to tie and space the moulds across the inside of the building. The floors consist either of concrete poured on corrugated steel e<6>, Fig. 16, suspended from cross pieces e<19> which bear on the beams, or of slabs e<12>, Fig. 17. The ceiling panels consist of timber framework e<1> spanning from wall to wall and to which is attached metal lathing e<2> and plaster; in addition, the panels are hung from the beams either by bolts e<8>, Fig. 16, engaging corrugated steel e<6> attached to the timber frames, or by bolts e<10>, Fig. 17, passed through the frames, the corrugated steel e<6> then acting as cross pieces. Partition walls consist of two inner mould sections spaced apart and with concrete filled in between them.
