Foot and seat action valve-discharge waterwaste preventers. - A fitting interposed between a flushing cistern and a water closet contains two valves for controlling the supply and discharge of water, the valves being operated from the closet seat and a pedal, so that when the seat or pedal is depressed, water is supplied to the normally empty cistern, flushing taking place when the seat or pedal is subsequently returned. In the form shown in Fig. 1, compartments 7, 8 contain inlet and flushing valves 10, 23, the former being mounted on a rod 13 acted on by a, spring 15, and the latter being carried by a pivoted arm 25 adapted to be engaged by a hook 27 on a spring-controlled rod 28. The depression of the seat or pedal raises the rods 13, 28 to open the inlet valve 10 and allow the flushing valve 23 to close, the subsequent return of the rods closing the valve 10 and opening the valve 23. In a modified form, the valves 10, 23 are mounted on guided spindles operated by levers 53, 54, Fig. 2. In both forms, the compartments 7, 8 communicate through a small aperture 68.
