Abstract

681,923. Valve-discharge water-wastepreventers. WITVROUW, L. March 23, 1950 [March 23, 1949; Dec. 15, 1949], No. 7325/50. Class 26 A water-waste-preventing cistern of the "normally empty" type and comprising a tube 6 which is rockable to close the discharge orifice 2 and open the inlet valve- 20 by a .rod or link system and which is. rocked back by a float 40 to open the discharge orifice when the cistern has been filled is characterized in that the tube 6 is rocked by means of a lever, pivoted to the inlet valve body, and having two parallel arms 13 provided with guiding slots 12 fora guide member 10 attached to the tube 6 and which arms also serve as a support for a roller or equivalent member 19 adapted to control the opening of the inlet valve 20. In the empty position, Fig. 1, inlet valve is closed by the supply pressure, and the tube 6 rocked back to open the discharge orifice 2. When the chain on the lever 16 is pulled, the tube 6 is rocked forward by the arms 13 and guide member 10 and held inthe "orifice-closed" position by a latch on the float lever 36, and the inlet valve 20 is opened by the roller 19 on the arms 13. The water in the tank rises and lifts the float 40 thus releasing the tube 6 from the latch so that the tube rocks and the discharge orifice opens due to the weight of the arms 13. The inlet valve 20 is simultaneously closed.
