Abstract

405,014. Wash-basins in combination with urinals. REITH, R. B., 33, Sandhill, Newcastle-on-Tyne. July 27, 1932, No. 21224. [Class 26.] A cabinet 1 for use in sleeping cars, steamship cabins &c., comprises a washhand basin 3 and a urinal 4, the latter being capable of movement from a stowedaway position where it may receive waste from the basin, to a position convenient for use, whilst remaining connected to an outlet 8. The urinal is connected to a door 2 by a bracket 5, and its discharge-pipe 7 which is cranked as shown is connected to the outlet 8 by a sliding joint or a pivotal connexion. The basin-outlet is provided with the usual plug or valve 6, a further valve 9 and a rose 15, and the arrangement is such that when the door is closed from the position shown, it engages a rod 10 and the valve 9 is opened against the influence of a spring or a weighted bell-crank which serves to close the valve when the door is open. A hingedly or otherwise mounted seat may be provided for use with the urinal, and the floor of the cabinet may be provided with an outlet orifice fitted with a plug.
