Abstract

306,174. Hall, C. Nov. 16, 1927. Two-stroke-cycle engines. - In an engine using crank case compression for the mixture, which enters the combustion chamber through a ported tubular extension A carried by the piston, the cylinder head is formed integrally with the small cylinder F in which the extension reciprocates. The exhaust ports I form a complete circle around the cylinder. The packing rings E on the extension A are prevented from expanding, with the piston at its lowest point, by a ring on the cylinder F. Mixture is admitted to the crank case through flap valves consisting of springs N whose lift is controlled by check plates 0. The valves are carried by a plate L mounted between the crank case and the inlet pipe K.
