Abstract

Combined open fireplaces and cooking-stoves; dampers; boilers, arrangement of. - In a combination range in which the boiler c is supported at its ends, the boiler flue c<3> passing under and up the back of the boiler, an inclined flue leads from the flue c<3> up the side of the fire-space to the forward part of the hot-plate flue d above the oven. In the construction shown, the flue is formed of plates c<4>-c<7> secured together and to the sides of the fire-space. The gases pass from the top end of the flue, under control of a damper c<2>, and are directed towards the centre of the flue space by a baffle o; they leave by an outlet formed by a casting e at the side of the oven and above and behind the inclined flue c. An opening b<3> in the side of the grate allows gases to pass to the bottom and outer side oven flues, a damper b<2> being provided at the top of the latter. A removable fire-back plate h closes the space above the boiler and allows access to the pipe connections. The top of the boiler space is closed by a plate indicated by a chain-line k in Fig. 2. The dampers b<2> and c<2> are constructed and arranged as described in Specification 299,693.
