Abstract

304,159. Forsyth, A. Dec. 8, 1927. Lever lids.-A sheet metal lid or cover for lever-lid sheet-metal boxes, cans, canisters, &c. is formed with an integral stout annular flange B<x> at a considerable distance inwards from the actual surrounding edge of the lid, the flange overhanging an annular U- or V-shaped groove or channel b carried by the lid and engaging with a corresponding channel a on the receptacle. The channel on the receptacle may be made integral with the neck thereof. In making the lid a circular blank is stamped, drawn, or pressed to form the annular channel and a central cylindrical part, the cylindrical part being then pressed to form the flange.
