Abstract

300,234. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., Wellings, J. G., and Wood, C. W. June 22, 1927. Fusible cut-outs.-A fuse connected in series with a reactance or resistance to protect a transformer &c. is located axially within the coil forming the reactance or resistance so that the coil forms an electrostatic shield at substantially the same potential as the fuse wire. The coil 14 is wound on a porcelain tube 4 extending at 17 beyond the end of the coil and fuse and is connected to supports 10, 11, one of which is integral with an end plate 9 carrying a screw cap 8 that engages one end of the fuse 3 the other end being supported by a contact 5 and porcelain disc 6. The tube 4 is provided with a shoulder 12 to enable it to withstand the full line potential that occurs between the contact 5 and the coil 14 when the fuse blows.
