Abstract
455,383. Fusible cut-outs. SWITCHGEAR & EQUIPMENT, Ltd., Station Road, Banbury, and OXLEY, A. G. H., Greengates, Adderbury West, near Banbury, Oxfordshire. April 18, 1935, No. 11956. [Class 38 (i)] The fuse wire and spring of a spring-loaded fusible cut-out are connected through a lever so that the strain on the fuse wire is restricted. As shown the fuse wire J is connected to the end of the lever K whilst the spring is connected to the lever through the member N. When the fuse blows the spring causes the lever K to rotate and the boss L<1>, pivoted in the insulating plates M, turns into the position indicated in Fig. 5 and slips out of the recess N<2> allowing the pull-off spring to draw-out the arc and facilitate its extinction by means of the arc-quenching liquid with which the cut-out is fitted. The insulating plates may be provided with several holes or may be slotted as shown at R to enable fuses of differing lengths to be used. If desired an additional fuse Q may be provided, the fuse J being the straintaking member which blows when carrying the full load following the fusing of Q. A blow off cap B<1> serves to relieve excess pressure.
