Fusible cut-outs comprise a body 1 of transparent dielectric or vitreous material, such as glass, provided with contacts 2 to which are connected end parts in the form of conductors 3 which receive the fuse wire 3" supporting a centre heavy conductor 3'. The body 1 is exhausted of air to prevent damage when the fuse blows and to enable it to be used in new fuses; while the centre conductor 3<1> by its weight ensures complete separation on fusion. The conductors 3 reduce the resistance of the fuse, and the fuse wire 3<11> is of zinc or other conducting material..
