Abstract

299,462. Segay, A. Oct. 27, 1927, [Convention date]. Explosives.-Relates to explosives containing ammonium nitrate, sodium or potassium chloride, and trinitronaphthalene, and consists in the use of a large proportion of trinitronaphthalene sufficient, to be completely burnt by the oxygen of the ammonium nitrate, and the addition to the mixture of potassium perchlorate or nitroglycerine or both. The nitroglycerine is gelatinized or an absorbent such as sawdust is added. A small part of the trinitronaphthalene may be replaced by trinitrotoluene. An example contains ammonium nitrate 59 per cent, sodium chloride 18 per cent, trinitronaphthalene 8 per cent, trinitrotoluene 5 per cent, and potassium perchlorate 10 per cent.
