Abstract

18,622. Wester, C. Aug. 12. Explosives. - Relates to explosives containing (1) ammonium perchlorate, (2) combustible bodies composed of hydrocarbons such as nitrobenzene, binitrobenzene, vaseline, wood pulp, or fecula, and (3) alkaline nitrates such as sodium or potassium nitrate. The invention consists in employing sawdust, instead of wood pulp, with or without the addition of vaseline. Suitable proportions are: 35 per cent of ammonium perchlorate, 45 per cent of Chili saltpetre, 10 per cent of binitrobenzene, 10 per cent of sawdust or 8 per cent of sawdust, and 2 per cent of vaseline.
