Abstract

26,493. Herlin, C. V. A. April 14, [Convention date]. Explosives. -Consists in adding to nitroglycerine a nitro-hydrocarbon or a mixture of ititro-hydrocarbons, liquid at normal temperatures, in such proportions as to form substantially an eutectic mixture for gelatinizing nitrocellulose without the use of oil. One example contains 25 to 55 per cent of an eutectic mixture of nitro-glycerine and nitrobenzene or o-nitrotoluene, or both, 1 to 3 per cent of nitrocellulose, 25 to 40 per cent of sodium nitrate, 25 to 40 per cent of sodium chlorate, and 0 to 5 per cent of wood meal.
