Explosives.- Relates to gelatinized explosives, such as nitrocellulose-nitroglycerine explosives, and consists in the addition thereto of cork powder, which retains permanently a certain quantity of air and thereby ensures a rapid transmission of detonation. One example contains nitroglycerine 56 per cent, nitrocellulose 2À3 per cent, nitrobenzene 1À7 per cent, ammonium nitrate 35 per cent, and cork powder 5 per cent.
