Explosives. - Consists in adding partially or wholly dehydrated copper sulphate to explosives containing ammonium nitrate and an organic nitrate such as nitroglycerine. starch nitrate, and glycol nitrates, to which sodium or potassium nitrate and other ingredients such as combustible absorbents may be added. One example contains nitroglycerine 21 per cent, ammonium nitrate 26 per cent, sodium nitrate 35 per cent, wood meal 14 per cent, copper sulphate 3 per cent, and chalk 1 per cent.
