Wire resistances, cored. - For an electric heater to be operated at a temperature not exceeding 200‹ F. wire of low specific resistance, such as copper or aluminium, insulated by cotton covering or enamel, is wound on hollow cylinders of non-magnetic material, having a coefficient of expansion greater than that of the wire, so, that by their expansion they take up the slackness produced on heating. The cylinders may be zinc covered with asbestos paper.
