[Class 37.] Wire resistances wound on an insulating support are coated with a glaze or vitreous enamel by dipping the wound support into the heated molten glaze while gripped by tongs, and moving to and fro in the glaze, thereby preventing the formation of air bubbles. To prevent cracking of the insulating support, it may be heated before dipping and its cooling after dipping may be retarded by means of a heating device. The support may be made of material of low coefficient of expansion, in which case these precautions are unnecessary. The tongs may be formed so as to cover those parts that are not to be coated with glaze, e.g. the internal wall, as well as the faces, of a tubular support.
