Abstract

Wire and ribbon resistances, encased and threaded.-An electric heater comprises metal plates 1, 1<A> connected by collars 5 around which is wound the heating wire or ribbon 7, the latter being insulated from the collars and plates by rings 4 and strips 2, 3, 3A of glass, porcelain, mica, silica, or enamel. All the external joints are sealed; and the metal plates 1, 1<A> may be omitted to avoid corrosion in use. The end's of the wires &c., 7 are connected to terminals 6 fitter in insulating-plugs 9.
