Abstract

388,429. Wire resistances. BERRY, A. F., 125, Strand, London. Aug. 26, 1931, No. 24016. [Class 37.] An electric resistance heating element consists of bare wire of, for instance, nickel chromium alloy which, when heated in the atmosphere, becomes coated with a heat radiating and insulating film of oxide as described in Specification 4672/09, [Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.]. The element is provided with metal supports h secured to a refractory non- conducting baseplate b. If the film of oxide is not sufficient other insulation may be added at the supports h, the latter also being provided with saddles i of refractory material to assist in supporting a vessel arranged above the heating element. An earthing terminal g is provided in the middle of the element.
