Class 39(3) In electric heaters for use on cooking ranges in which resistance wires prefer- . ably coiled are embedded in compacted insulating material in a metal tube or the like forming a sheath which is flattened on one side and shaped to receive a cooking vessel and is open at both ends with terminals at both ends, a wire of nickel or like material having a high temperature coefficient of resistance is connected in series or parallel with the heating wire in order to enable the heater to heat up quickly, or the resistance wire or wires themselves are of nickel or nickel alloy. As shown, two resistance wires are connected together at one end, which is connected to a nickel wire 14, so that the two resistance wires may be connected in series with or without the wire 14; or the wire 14 may be connected in series with either wire 13 singly or with the wires 13 in parallel. The wires 13 may be of equal or unequal resistance, and the insulating material may be magnesium oxide. A resistance wire may be connected in parallel with a wire comprising a nickel wire and a resistance wire in series. Specifications 734,053, 774,931 and 782,276 are referred to.
