[Class 37.] In insulating coiled heating resistances, by threading them on beads of refractory material, the internal diameter of the beads being alternately larger and smaller, the beads of greater internal diameter are also of greater external diameter. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement of longer beads 3 of greater diameter and shorter elliptical beads 2 of internal diameter, the ends of the beads 3 being recessed to form bearings for the ends of the beads 2. The resistance wire 1 fits closely inside the beads 2 ; it may be slightly stretched before being threaded through the beads so that in retracting it presses against the base of the beads 2.
