Regulating. - In an elastic fluid turbine arranged for intermediate extraction or supply of working fluid, and having an automatic interstage valve controlled, e.g. by the extraction pressure, the setting of the interstage valve gear is modified in accordance with the position of the main admission valve gear so that the effect of any change of interstage pressure due to an alteration of the setting of the. admission valve will be anticipated. In the Figure, the main admission valve 5 is controlled by a speed governor 21 acting through a fluid pressure relay 14, and a rack-and-pinion actuated cam 9. The interstage ring valve 24 at the extraction point is actuated, as in Specification 7697/13, by a fluid-pressure relay motor 29, the pilot valve 30 of which is set by a pressure-device 40 connected to the extraction pipe 23. Movements of the main valve 5 are caused to influence, the pilot valve 30 by a connection comprising rod 48, lever 47, rod 46, and spring 45. A number of holes 49 are provided in the lever 47 to permit of adjustment, and the spring of the pressureresponsive device 40 is adjustable. The device 40 may be responsive to temperature changes.
