Abstract

467,512. Fluid-pressure servomotorcontrol systems. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., and COLLINGHAM, R. H. Dec. 17, 1935, No. 35017. [Class 135] A pilot valve for controlling the flow of oil to a servomotor which actuates the admission valve of a turbine, is surrounded by a sleeve adapted, when the condenser vacuum falls, to be actuated by high pressure oil to cause the admission valve to be moved toward the closed position. The invention is particularly applicable to a turbo-alternator set as described in Specification 414,780, [Group XXVI]. The pilot valve 1, controlled by the governor, slides in a sleeve 2 enclosed in a cylinder 3 to which oil is admitted under the control of a valve 9. This valve is actuated by a bellows 6 in communication with the condenser and loaded by a spring 7 adjustable by a hand wheel 8. Linkage 11 and a floating lever 12 give a follow-up action. The flow of oil to and from the servomotor is through conduits 4, 5. When the vacuum falls, valve 9 is lowered and oil admitted below the sleeve to raise it against the action of a loading spring. Movement of the admission valve restores the pilot valve 1 to neutral position.
