Mercerizing. - Mixed fabrics of cotton and regenerated cellulose such as viscose or cuprammonium silk are mercerized under tension with alkali in the usual manner, the mercerizing liquor being washed off at a controlled temperature above 50‹ C. By the process the lustre of the viscose, is little affected while the cotton fibres are levelled up.
