Abstract

302,363. British Celanese, Ltd., (Assignees of Dreyfus, C.). Dec. 16, 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 274,074, [Class 120 (iii), Yarns &c.]. Designs. produce.-Ornamental effects are produced on fabrics made of or containing cellulose acetate or ather cellulose esters by the local application of a saponifying-agent and thereafter treating with a carbonizing-solution whereby the regenerated cellulosic fibre is removed. When the fabric is made wholly of cellulosic esters, holes are produced. In addition to the cellulose esters, the fabric may contain cotton, linen, silk, wool &c. Suitable saponifying-agents are caustic potash or soda, sodium carbonate, or other alkaline solution thickened with gum arabic or gum tragacanth. Aluminium chloride or hydrochloric acid may be used as the carbonizing. agent.
