274,266. Silver Springs Bleaching & Dyeing Co., Ltd., Mason, F. E., and Hall, A. J. July 2,1926. Yarns, treating with liquids; mercerizing.- Yarns and fabrics containing non-disulphurized viscose artificial silk and one or more other fibres such as cotton, wool, natural silk, or cellulose acetate silk are treated with caustic alkali of mercerizing or other strength and are then desulphurized whereby the deleterious action of the alkali on the viscose silk is eliminated. In an example, cotton fabric containing warp threads of non-desulphurized viscose silk is impregnated with caustic soda of 52‹ T.W., stretched, washed in cold water, soured, and afterwards immersed in a 1 per cent. solution of sodium sulphite at 80‹-90‹ C. to desulphurize the viscose silk. The fabric is then washed and bleached.
