Abstract

294,958. Koku-kenkyujo. Aug. 2, 1927, [Convention date]. Gaseous mixtures. - The inflammability of hydrogen and the risk of its explosion in admixture with air is diminished by addition thereto in gas or vapour state of a small amount e.g. 0.2-2 per cent by volume of one or more compounds having a higher theoretical flame propogation temperature than hydrogen. The com. pounds used include benzene, methyl, ethyl and other alcohols, petroleum hydrocarbons and methyl cyclohexane. Specification 18056/10 [Class 1 (i), Chemical processes &c.], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the addition to the hydrogen of toluene and ether. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
