Abstract
<PICT:0361279/III/1> In gas analysis apparatus of the kind wherein the gas diffuses through a porous member 2 and an indication of its composition is given by the difference in pressure on opposite sides 3, 4 of the porous member, a regulatable byepass conduit 11 is provided to permit the calibration of the instrument. The byepass is preferably controlled by a needle valve 12 protected from the action of dust by a filter 13. The reduction in pressure in the chamber 4 may be effected by absorption of the gas in a solid absorbent 8, in a liquid absorbent as described in Specification 292,607, [Class 1 (i), Chemical processes &c.], or by diffusion through another porous member.
