Abstract

546,672. Gas analysis. CASE, E. M., and DAVIS, Sir R. H. Jan. 23, 1941, No. 925 [Class 1 (i)] A gas analysis apparatus comprises a burette A closed at its lower end' by an adjustable column of liquid 16, a pipette B similarly closed by a column of liquid 17 and communicating near its lower end with a tube C closed at the lower end and open at the upper end to the supply of gas to be analysed or to a gas at the same pressure as that gas, and a three-way cock or other means 11 whereby the burette can be placed in communication with the gas to be analysed, with the pipette, or with both together. The adjustable columns of liquid, preferably mercury, are provided by compressible reservoirs 18, 19 controlled by manually depressed flaps 22, 27 the movement of which is limited by adjustable screws 26, 29. The burette and pipette are immersed in a temperatureequalising liquid 3 which can be agitated by manipulating bulb 14.
