Apparatus for mixing liquids with gases comprises a tubular member b, the lower part of which dips into a liquid, means for vibrating the member in the direction of its longitudinal axis, and valve means in the form of a diaphragm c at the lower end of the member b which is arranged to be closed solely by the inertia of the liquid in the member, whereby the liquid is caused to ascend in the member b and to pass out into the gas space above the liquid through openings d in the upper part of the member b.
