Roller blinds.-The operating cord 45 for raising a roller blind is wound on a spring drum 24 having a ratchet connection 23, 30, Fig. 6, to the roller, the cord, after operation, returning to its original position under influence of the spring 33. A casing 40 at one end of the roller accommodates the drum and ratchet and a similar casing 17 at the other end covers a friction brake. This latter operates only on lowering the blind and comprises a ratchet wheel 10 in frictional engagement with the roller and coaxial therewith, and a co-operating pawl 19 carried by the casing. The blind rod 62 is fitted with eyes 61 running on vertical guide cords 60 at the sides of the window.
