254,936. Gibson & Co., Ltd., A. L., (Kinnear Manufacturing Co.). Oct. 30, 1925. Roller-blinds.-Counterbalancing apparatus for blinds &c. is situated outside the winding-drum in a fixed casing such as 5. The helical counterbalancing springs 9 are mounted on spindles 8 and are fixed at their free ends to pinions 16 engaging pinions fixed on the axle 6 which is keyed to the drum. The springs are adjustably secured at their other ends by means of collars keyed to the spindles 8 and plates 12 on the spindles secured by one of several eyes to a projection 14 on the fixed casing. In a modification reduction gearing may be employed outside the fixed casing between the springs and the winding drum. The power for winding the drum is applied through the shaft 20 and gearing 19, 18. The supports 7 and 7b have guiding flanges for the blind &c.
