Abstract

293,849. Bitz, J. A. July 15, 1927, [Convention date]. Buoys. - A life-saving device for submarine vessels comprises a buoyant chamber 1 with a closure 2 at the top and normally stowed in a casing 6 mounted on the hull of the vessel. The chamber is attached to a. length of flexible tubing 5, and when released rises to the surface and enables the crew to escape by climbing up the interior of the tube. The tube is stiffened with flat rings which, when the tubing is collapsed, rest on each other with the folds of the envelope spread outwardly.
