Abstract

1465062 Escape shoots; inflatable craft DUNLOP Ltd 23 May 1974 [24 May 1973] 24796/73 Headings B7A and B7J An inflatable escape shoot consists of inflatable tubes 12, 13, and a connecting piece 14, and inflatable liferafts 2, 3, 4, 5 connected to it by painters 2À1, 3À1, 4À1, 5À1, through the intermediary of an inflatable platform 15, the shoot material 14 being treated so that its coefficient of friction increases towards its lower end. The apparatus is stowed on the deck of a ship, preferably under a hinged ramp 18 which pivots overboard when the shoot is inflated, and may act to support the upper part of the shoot. For this purpose the ramp may be in a number of hinged parts (see Figs. 11, 12, not shown). The platform 15 may be attached to the shoot, or its inflatable surround 15a may be integral with the shoot tubes 12, 13 (see Figs. 7, 8, not shown). The shoot may be divided into two parallel shoots by a central longitudinal tube (see Fig. 10, not shown). The floor of the platform 15 is preferably formed of inflatable tubes. The platform may be stabilized by means of drogues or water pockets.
