Limbs, artificial.-A hinged joint for artificial limbs comprises a pivot connected to one member rockably connected to the other member and supported on a set-screw for angular adjustment in a plane transverse to the normal flexure. As shown, Figs. 2, 5, a T-bolt pivot 11 carried by the shin member 2 passes through a socket 5 and the foot-plate 8, the socket being pivoted to the plate at 10 and abutting against a set-screw 9 thereon. Toe and heel adjustment is obtained by a buffer plate 16 carried on another set-screw 18 in the foot-plate 8 and by a heel-buffer 19. The sole has a resilient lining 20 which encloses the projecting adjustment parts. The instep is provided with transverse incisions 21 bridged by a slotted and anchored leaf-spring 22. The kneejoint comprises a lower knee portion 1<1> provided with slots 31, 32 of different areas through which the pivot 29 passes. The pivot carries a bush 33 formed into a bearing 34 which seats in a bracket 36 on the knee part 1<1>. A yoke-piece 37 encircles the bracket 36 and bush 33 and has a curved lower face 40, its upper face engaging the bracket 36 through a set-screw 38. A similar arrangement 41 - - 43 is located on the opposite side of the knee together with a central set-screw 44. The upper knee part 1<11> is adjustable on the lower part 1<1> by screws 45 engaging slots therein. A resilient pad 47 is provided on the part 2.
