Abstract

518,258. Artificial limbs. HANGER & CO., Ltd., J. E., SMITH, T. B., WALKER, F. J., and BROWN, P. April 26, 1939, No. 12507. [Class 81 (ii)] An ankle joint comprises a universal coupling, consisting of an upper spindle g mounted in two lugs j integral with the shin portion a, and a lower spindle h mounted at right angles to the spindle g, in two lugs l integral with a base piece m which is fixed to the foot by a bolt n and a nut o, the housings of the spindles being integral with each other. The longitudinal and lateral movements of the foot are controlled bv suitably disposed buffers d and e, and lateral stops respectively. A toe hinge and a spring c are provided in the foot portion b.
