Abstract

114,385. Bone, A. Aug. 8, 1917. Limbs, artificial.-Legs of the type having two rods situated in the part between the. foot and the knee for the purpose of operating the foot are constructed with a link coupling the pivoting toe portion of the foot to the lower end of the front rod, and with a spring urging the rear rod upwards so as to maintain the foot in normal position. The front rod a is pivoted to the forked end c of a link b which is pivoted in turn to a tongue e of the toe-member d, moving in a slot h formed in the foot. At the upper end of the rod a spring l is maintained in compression by means of a nut m. A similar spring o is mounted upon the upper end of the rear rod p, of which the lower end is pivotally connected to a rod or tubular member s anchored, for limited rocking movement within a slot v, by means of a cross-pin t near the base of the heel. Relative angular movement between the leg n and the foot g may be limited by a stop w mounted upon the main ankle pivot i.
