Abstract

Liquid-fuel furnaces.-0il and primary air are admitted tangentially into a recess of triangular cross-section formed in the inner wall of a ciroular refractory fire-pot or combustion chamber. In Fig. 2, the combustion chamber, with fuel and air inlets 30. 29 at two diametrically opposite points in the recess 17, is formed between a refractory member 12 and a converging centre piece 20 supported from the bottom of the fire-pot. A central passage 23 having inlets 22 serves as outlet for the hot gases. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a construction shown in Fig. 4 (Cancelled), in which the refractory pot 33 is mounted' in a metal casing having an air jacket 34 and an end cover 35 with sight, hole. 37 are the fuel and air inlets, and secondary air is supplied from the jacket through passages 38 opening forwardly into the flaring part 39 of the outlet. Fig. 5 (Cancelled) shows the invention in the form of a crucible, furnace. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
