291,743. Goldarbeiter, H. June 7, 1927, (Convention date]. Oxygen.-Sensitive animal fibres and substances are bleached in a dilute weakly alkaline (e.g. ammoniacal) solution of hydrogen peroxide or substance yielding hydrogen peroxide, to which is added a substance (e.g. potassium ferricyanide, or a copper or vanadium salt) which is not an oxidizing agent in the concentration employed but which causes the oxygen to be generated in a time sufficiently short to prevent damage to the fibres. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the use of salts of nicked, cobalt, or silver, as catalysers for controlling the speed of the oxygen generation. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specifica. tion as accepted.
