Abstract

Heating by direct contact of steam.- Relates to a boiler of the kind in which steam is generated by spraying water into a superheated steam in a chamber 2, the total steam being further superheated and led into a second generating chamber and so on, and consists in taking the initial steam when starting up from a generator outside the flues of the main boiler. The initial steam may be taken from a gas or oil fired or electrically heated boiler, or from the accumulator 4 into which is led the steam from the last generating chamber 2. Steam from the accumulator is forced into the superheating tubes by a pump 6 and water is injected into the chambers by a pump 9. After starting up, the initial steam is generated in a boiler 1 in the furnace of the main boiler.
